Today was a big day at my house: we brought home our new puppy! My husband and I have been wanting an Old English Sheepdog for a really long time, and several months ago we finally found a breeder with a litter on the way . . . and today was the happy homecoming day! He's only been home for a few hours, but he already has us wrapped around his little paw. He and the kittens aren't the best of friends yet, but hopefully that'll improve before long. We named him Oliver, and we call him Ollie for short. Isn't he just the cutest?! I'm in love!
Andrea was my first real portrait subject ever, so I feel extremely fortunate to have been a part of her very special quinceañera celebration. I went over to her aunt's house before the big event and took photos of her getting ready there. She's quite honestly one of the sweetest girls I've ever met and deserves all the best from life, so I was touched to see her looking so beautiful and genuinely happy. And I know that she has been waiting for these for awhile, so without further ado, here are some of my favorite photos from the day!
First, a few details: the invitation...
the dress...
the shoes...
And here's the gorgeous girl herself:
Getting glamour-ized:
A cute candid...
Putting on the finishing touches...
and voila! A princess!
I love this moment! So serious, like she was really contemplating the importance of the day (or maybe she was just rehearsing her dances in her head!)
Stunning, once again!
She had an amazing mantilla...
And she's quite the daddy's girl!
One last look on her way out the door (I love the light)...
I hope you had an amazing day, Andrea! Thank you so much for letting me be a part of it. I wish you all the best in the future!
And if these weren't enough for you, you can see more photos in her slideshow! (There's a slightly larger version here.)
Actually, it's now 366...days I've been married, that is. Yesterday was my one-year wedding anniversary! My wonderful husband and I were married at the Hotel del Coronado in San Diego last summer, and our families and closest friends joined us in taking over Coronado Island for the weekend and celebrating our pants off! We had such a wonderful time, all I could think about yesterday was what exactly we were doing a year ago: laying on the beach, having a few beers at Danny's, drinking tea at the Del...I wish we could all go back again!
To honor the day, I thought I'd post a few of my favorite photos from our wedding. So obviously I didn't take these--they were done by the very talented Ron Hughes.
Ben: I can't believe it's been a whole year, baby--I love you so much! I know there will be many more wonderful years to come...and we're gonna get that honeymoon, for sure! ;)
Last weekend my husband and I took a little trip to New Orleans. It was my first visit there, and I must confess that I was very impressed! We only ventured out into the French Quarter, but it reminded me so much of Europe that I was in heaven!
